Elemental Love

This is a poem requested by my friend Aswin Kumar about a guy waiting for his ex even after a breakup forced by the girl's parents! BIG thanks to him for suggesting this topic!!!

ELEMENTAL LOVE:
When fire and ice
Had fallen in love,
The world was against it,
Like the gods above.
But fire was pure –
An eternal flame.
His love ablaze
Will never change.
And water was sweet,
A taste of joy
And everlasting hope
Throughout her life.
And love – it happened,
Ricocheted from the mountains,
The voice that was silenced
By the earth of their origins.
The universe saw
The elements weep.
Where does love go
With a future so bleak?
And water -  she fled.
She flees from fire.
Evaporates despite
Her elemental desire.
And heart chained to her,
The fire - he remembers
Every moment, every detail
Of their time together and
Her every feature.
Not a day, not an hour
Goes by without her thought
And fire will wait for her
Whether she returns or not.
Only water can calm fire,
Only she has his heart,
And she melts for him too –
Such feelings don’t part.
The very universe,
Such cruel fate,
Against their love –
But it will not fade.
It will not fade, and
In the deepest volcanoes
They’ll join as lava –
Unstoppable, courageous.
And not a thing
Could stand in their way
When they’re together
And their love won’t sway.
But still for now
Water will flee,
And fire will wait
And wait and dream.

Do you see all those connections here? Like water evaporating in the presence of fire (girl fleeing) but ice still melting in presence of fire, and only water being able to put out fire... Both fire and water originating from earth and lava being a combination of both... And the reason why FIRE is the guy is because people say love is like fire - warm and passionate and everything red.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU ENJOYED THIS POEM! And if you have any topics to suggest to me, I'm always ready to try them out! Anyone is free to request a poem! ^_^
