THIS IS ONE OF MY BEST POEMS!!! And it was written spontaneously. I started writing about one thing and changed midway into another thing. I didn't even come up with the below summary until after I read it!
It's about two people who are really close to
each other. You could say they are family, or you could say they are lovers.
They are about to set off for war. So, yes,
they are soldiers. Apparently they have had a fight or something maybe and the
person reciting the poem must have done something wrong. But the point is, even
though they just had a fight and they are mad at each other, they still forgive
each other and get ready for the war that looms over their heads.
DEPARTURE BEFORE WAR:
So here I stand before you, nothing left to say.
I don’t think you want to hear my apology.
But I wonder what is going through your mind.
What are you thinking about tonight?
I move a little closer just to push away the cold.
The tension just increases so I put my breath on hold.
I wondered why you looked into my eyes.
I wondered why we stood on such thin ice.
Behold the stars up high.
Behold the rainbow in the sky.
Such free elements of nature…
Away from all such troublesome worldly matters.
You closed the distance in that moment.
Pulling you close, my tears start falling.
‘Stay close to me’ I whisper.
‘Stay safe’ is all you muster.
Then we put our armor on.
The battle starts from here on out.
Off into the sunset the army marches on.
And off we go, off we go to war.
I don't know why but every time I think of this poem I think of Mulan... Well, I hope you enjoyed this one! Comment below what you think of it. Share it with your friends too!
